The magnificent London Warehouse is a former brick and iron framed warehouse built in 1867 to store cotton bails before being distributed to the mills in London. The warehouse was one of four that had originally been built and the only one remaining. Much of the original detailing is still evident, in particular, the wide cast-iron columns supporting large riveted wrought-iron girders, cast-iron floor joists and stunning brick barrelled ceilings.

The building is being transformed by David Archer of Archer Humphryes who led the redevelopments of the Chiltern Firehouse and Great Northern Hotels. The building is being completely transformed to provide 166 stunning aparthotel units including studio, one and two bedroom units together with a mixture of an all-day bistro, co-working space, cocktail bar, barber and flower shop on the double height ground floor.

Native operated the building under its old name of The Place Aparthotel until it closed in April 2017 to undergo an extensive 15-month refurbishment. When we re-launch the building in autumn 2018, it will be under its original name The London Warehouse, staying true to the important role it has played in Manchester’s industrial heritage.

We have led the development of The London Warehouse brand and the identity for the building, creating a high-quality brochure to help attract a prestigious food and beverage operator for our ground floor offer. With an operator close to final appointment we are working closely with them to create a stand out destination space for Mancunians and hotel guests alike.

We plan to place the development at the top end of the Manchester aparthotel industry and our FF&E selection reflects that. Working with Conran Contracts and Archer Humphryes, our apartments and common area furnishings have been selected to drive premium rates and to celebrate the stunning architecture of the space.
